We take the protection of your personal data seriously. We treat your data confidentially and in accordance with the applicable data protection law, in particular the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

If you simply visit this website, we process no personal data beyond the server log files described below. This website uses no cookies, no tracking, no analytics tools that identify individuals, no social media plugins and no contact forms.

03 · Hosting and server log files

This website is hosted by:

When you open our site, the hosting provider automatically collects technically necessary data in server log files:

• IP address of the requesting device (usually anonymised)
• Date and time of access
• URL requested
• Volume of data transferred
• Browser type and version
• Operating system
• Referrer URL

This data serves only to keep the site running and to defend against attacks. It is not merged with other data sources and not passed to third parties. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest). The data is deleted automatically after a short period.

The transfer of your data to the USA by Cloudflare takes place on the basis of the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, under which Cloudflare is certified. Further information: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.

04 · External fonts (Google Fonts)

This website loads the typefaces "Archivo" and "Space Mono" from the Google Fonts content delivery network:

When the page is opened, your IP address is transmitted to Google's servers so that the fonts can be displayed. According to Google, no further storage takes place. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a consistent presentation of the website). Further information: policies.google.com/privacy.

05 · Cookies, tracking and analytics

This website sets no cookies and does no re-targeting. No social media plugins are embedded.

External link to LinkedIn: this website contains a plain link to our company profile on LinkedIn (LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company, Wilton Place, Dublin 2, Ireland). It is a link, not a plugin, and no data is transmitted to LinkedIn when you visit this site. Only if you follow the link does LinkedIn process your data under its own responsibility, subject to its privacy policy: linkedin.com/legal/privacy-policy.

For audience measurement only, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics (Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA). The tool works without cookies and without persistent identifiers. It records only aggregated, anonymous data on page views, browser type, operating system and referrer. According to Cloudflare, no IP addresses are stored and no user profiles are built. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in audience measurement). Further information: cloudflare.com/web-analytics.

06 · Contact by email and research newsletter

If you contact us by email, your details (email address, name where given, content of the message) are stored in order to handle your enquiry. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (steps prior to or performance of a contract) or Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in answering your enquiry). The data is deleted once the purpose of storage no longer applies and no statutory retention periods prevent it.

Research newsletter: you can subscribe on this website to an email newsletter about new research publications. Your email address is stored only after you confirm through a link (double opt-in); the confirmation link is valid for 48 hours, and without confirmation no data is stored. Only your email address is stored. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR); you can withdraw it at any time through the unsubscribe link in every email, which deletes your data. We use Cloudflare, Inc. (form processing) and Resend, Inc. (email delivery, subscriber list management) as processors.

07 · Your rights

In respect of your personal data you have the right to:

• access to information about the processing of your data (Art. 15 GDPR)
• rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16 GDPR)
• erasure of your data (Art. 17 GDPR)
• restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
• data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
• object to processing (Art. 21 GDPR)
• withdraw consent with effect for the future (Art. 7(3) GDPR)
